Alexis Morris

Alexis-BW-400x400.png

Alexis grew up in the bay area and started dancing at her local community center when she was 4 years old. She is a recent graduate from Santa Clara University, where she continued her training by obtaining a dance minor while completing a B.S. in Chemistry and earning membership to Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Honors Society. While Alexis deeply enjoys the sciences, dance is her passion. For Alexis, the ability to make art is one of the most fulfilling things about being a human; it is a way of being, a means of communication, and an avenue to impact and brighten the lives of everyone around her. Dance allows Alexis to confront and process difficult things, allows her to share emotions and experiences, and allows her to engage with and entertain others.

Alexis has trained in many styles including tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary,  acrobatics and her personal favorite, hiphop. Her training in various styles has taught her the value of being a well rounded dancer as well as given her the strengths that come with training across multiple movement vernaculars. During her role as co-director for Santa Clara University’s collegiate hiphop dance team, Alexis furthered her exploration of various hiphop styles and techniques and has brought  those influences into her own choreography. This past year Alexis danced atTwoPoint4 Dance Theatre in Sacramento, where she trained and performed in contemporary, vertical dance, and low-fly,  deepening and providing still more diversity to her dance background to use moving forward.
